Support Student & Family Well-Being
ParentPowered provides families with strategies and strengths-based activities to help children from birth through grade 12 develop the skills needed to build resilience, manage stress, navigate their emotions, and form positive relationships that set them up for success, in and out of the classroom.
Promote Mental & Emotional Wellness So Students Are Ready to Learn
School is so much more than an academic experience. Developing skills like resilience, communication, and learning to get along with others are just as important as mastering academic benchmarks.
Students who received SEL support outperformed academic measures of those who did not by an average of 13 percentile points (Taylor et al., 2017).
Graduation rates of marginalized students increased by 14% (Cook et al., 2014).
A Whole-Child, Whole-Family Approach
When educators partner with families to build life skills, their students’ well-being, mental health, and engagement in the classroom improve. That’s why ParentPowered takes a whole-child, whole-family approach to cultivating the social-emotional skills needed to succeed in school.
Better Attendance & Engagement
- The importance and benefits of attending school are reinforced and families receive tips to develop habits that support positive attendance.
- Families are connected to critical resources that eliminate barriers to attendance such as lack of transportation and issues related to health and wellness.
Improved Mental Health
- Students and caregivers learn to better navigate their emotions, maintain a positive sense of self, and strengthen their resilience.
- Students gain skills to help them cultivate supportive, healthy relationships at home and school.
Positive School Culture & Climate
- Students practice and strengthen skills at home that support success in the classroom, such as self-regulation and focus.
- Families deepen their connection to and partnership with the school community so caregivers and educators can work together to improve outcomes for students.
“The ParentPowered program is a resource for families that is practical and will actually help them advance their child’s development not only academically but also socially and emotionally.” – Meenoo Yashar, Chief, Early Education Department, San Francisco Unified School District
Parenting Is Easier with Support — and with Community
When caregivers have unmet needs themselves it’s almost impossible to fully support their children—especially if those needs impact their health, safety, and well-being. That’s why in addition to providing activities that promote the development of their children, ParentPowered offers adults tips to establish healthy routines, manage the stress of parenting, and build their confidence. We also connect families with critical local resources to help them form community connections and find assistance with basic needs such as housing, food, and mental health.
When schools use ParentPowered, their families can solve challenging situations, and as a result, relationships with their children grow stronger.

Ensure ALL Families Have the Support They Need to Thrive
Families are busy, and many find it challenging to engage with their school community. The impact of trauma can make engaging even more difficult for many of the families. With ParentPowered, you can engage all caregivers as partners in their children’s learning by providing those impacted by trauma with critical additional supports.
Hard-to-Reach Families
We communicate with families via text message because it is the most accessible and equitable form of communication.
Each message is 160 characters and written at a third-grade reading level. Messages are available in 10+ languages.
Vulnerable Families
Our trauma-informed program provides a unique combination of protective factors-aligned messages, connections to resources in times of need, family communications tools, and critical data to help you better support vulnerable families.
Newcomers
We help families that are either new to the U.S. or new to your community learn about and navigate your school system.
We also provide families with tips to maintain their home cultures and languages, helping to root children in a positive sense of self.
Grounded in Research
Our content incorporates the latest research and evidence-based practices to equitably support every family. We also work closely with mental health experts, community health workers, and pediatricians to incorporate insights from the field.
